DANNY HANKINS / “FIX THE SIX”
Danny Hankins LJ Endorsement
For PCC Dist 6,
To the 11% of you who voted for me, I want to say thank you and let you know that I am very proud to have had your support. Even though Jani Hitchen, the democratic incumbent, told me the only reason I got the votes I did is because I’m a man, I got favorable placement in the voter pamphlet, and that voters are uninformed, I know better. I worked hard to earn your vote and your respect because that is what you deserve. I believe in strength of character, not party labels. That is why I, a liberal democrat, am reaching out to you now on behalf of Republican candidate LJ Rohrer.
You deserve a public servant who values you, listens to you, acknowledges the problems we are facing, and holds themselves accountable. We don’t need more blame or more excuses. That is why, even though I’m a Bernie voter with a Bob Ferguson sign proudly displayed in my yard, I cannot support Jani Hitchen.
A number of people close to me have said that endorsing a republican will put an end to my political future as a democrat. However, though I definitely plan to stay politically involved, a prosperous and safe community for my son to grow up in is far more important than any political ambitions I may have.
That is why I am supporting LJ Rohrer for Pierce County council district six. I am endorsing LJ not as a Republican, but as a person. Since the primary I’ve gotten to know LJ well. She wants the job. She cares, is a great listener, and is out there pounding the pavement every day, fighting and sweating for every vote. She isn’t sitting back and letting others do the heavy lifting. She’s out there herself- I saw her walking down the road with door hangers in hand just this past weekend. Call her and she will go out of her way to meet you. She is the real deal. Someone who voluntarily puts their life on hold and then pushes through the mental and physical exhaustion of campaigning while still wearing a smile and taking the time to listen is someone who we need to represent us.
With your support she will win and carry that work ethic with her to the council. She will summon the grit and tenacity to match her compassion, which will make her an excellent and effective public servant. Combine that with her ten years of policy experience working at the state house and Pierce County Council, and her five years (and counting) of elected experience at the Steilacoom Historical School District board, and you have a powerful ally. LJ understands the process. Things in Pierce County have gotten to the point where it’s time for a new approach, and I believe LJ is our best bet. I’ll always put family and community first. That is why now, next to my Bob Ferguson sign, I’m proud to have an LJ Rohrer sign.
Thanks,
Danny Hankins
