Loujanna ‘LJ’ Rohrer

Loujanna Rohrer

FOR PIERCE COUNTY COUNCIL, DISTRICT 6

WHY LJ?

As a 44 year resident of Pierce County with a decade of policy experience and public service, I’ll serve our community with integrity. I’m a proven leader with a track record of bringing people together and solving problems. Together, we can build a better Pierce County.

Pierce County is headed in the wrong direction. Under the incumbent, we have seen more crime, more homelessness, and less affordability. Taxes continue to skyrocket despite county revenues nearly doubling this past decade, and the incumbent wants to go further by tripling the property tax cap from a 1% to 3%. I will oppose tax hikes that threaten hardworking families, renters, and seniors and veterans on fixed incomes, and I will advocate for all Pierce County residents to have access to affordable housing.

Public safety is also a top priority. I am committed to supporting prosecutors and equipping law enforcement with the resources they need to address the rising crime that has skyrocketed on my incumbent’s watch. I’ll prioritize reducing response times in our unincorporated areas and ensure our deputies protect all people in all neighborhoods. The County’s top law enforcement union, the Pierce County Deputy Sheriff’s Guild, has confidently endorsed me, because we share a vision for making your neighborhood safe.

To make Pierce County residents safe, we must take effective action to homelessness. The homelessness epidemic has our community in crisis and requires urgent, thoughtful, and strategic action. While rates of homelessness increased under my incumbent’s tenure, I pledge to address the issue’s root causes and expand access to crisis stabilization beds and comprehensive services. The incumbent’s plan, similar to Seattle’s regional approach plan, lacks progress or results. Our homeless population and our communities deserve better.

Affordability, public safety, and homelessness are the bedrock issues of my campaign. These are the issues I helped address as a senior legislative aide at the House of Representatives, assistant to the County Council, and School Board Director, and these are the issues I will fight for on the County Council.

I am endorsed by a long list of respected local leaders that include County Executive Bruce Dammeier, former Council Chair Doug Richardson, Lakewood Mayor Whalen, Steilacoom Mayor Muri, DuPont’s Deputy Mayor Winkler, and retired Sheriff Paul Pastor. The full list can be seen by clicking here.

I have their vote, and humbly ask for yours. On behalf of my four children and husband of 28 years, thank you.
